Path to Happiness

Happiness can be an elusive thing. If only ... If only I had more money THEN I'd be happy. If I had a better job, better health... the list goes on and on. Even when we do happen to achieve one of those goals happiness stays only a fleeting moment. It is there until our problem focused mind discovers just one more thing that must change before happiness becomes permanent.

And yet, there are happy people who don't have any of those things we might list as necessary for happiness. What is their secret?

Here are 5 things that are common in the happiest people:
1. Gratitude is a habit.
List 3 gratitude's each night. You may write them down or speak them aloud. These are specific things from the past 24 hours and are never to be repeated over the next 21 days.

2. Relive the pleasure
Ruminate over the details of one of those things for which you are grateful. Be amazed at the wonders of its presence in your life.

3. Have fun every single day
For 15 minutes every single day do something that is fun and to keep variety in that fun do a different fun activity daily.

4. Spread the happiness to others
Send a positive note or email, or phone call to a different person each day for 21 days. This activity will develop your social relationships, keep you feeling connected, and spread the happiness to others.

5. Smile all the way to your eyes at loved ones and strangers

I encourage you to do one, two or all of these every day for the next three weeks. I imagine you will be amazed and delighted at the results in your life. You may even discover that you are happier than ever before. Please feel free to send me a positive note to share what you notice as you develop the happiness habit. MarieatNorthwestHtdotcom.
